Moose City:

OH MOOSE JAW

Vocal: The Jaw
Lyrics: Roy
Release Date: 2026
Audience: For All Ages

Album Description:
I’ve always been drawn to the history of the places I settle in, and Moose Jaw’s story has deeply moved me. This album is my humble attempt to reflect that—sharing echoes of the ‘Notorious City’, overlooked pieces of history, and quiet moments under its prairie sky.

These lyrics can’t capture the full depth of this city’s past, just like a conversation between friends.

Mac the Moose

Ten thousand years ago
As the Laurentide Ice Sheet began to fade
The moose were the first to claim this ground
Setting hoof upon the emerging soil of the Moose Jaw Plains

By the side of the Number One out on the vast Moose Jaw Plains
Stands the tallest moose in the world we call him Mac
He stands steady over the rolling fields
Watching over this living land season after season

Watch as the sun, the moon, and stars
pierce through his antlers wide
Heavy snow forges a silver armour… fit for a warriors pride
Northern lights and shifting clouds in robes of shimmering silk
Hear the thunder, feel the rain… cleansing him like a sacred spa

Cast your mind back to 1984, when our giant Mac was born
The whole town and every volunteer lent a steady helping hand
Even the children gave their nickels and dimes,
to see the grand dream through
Since that day Mac the Moose has called
The Moose Jaw plains his home

Watch as the sun, the moon, and stars
pierce through his antlers wide
Heavy snow forges a silver armour… fit for a warriors pride
Northern lights and shifting clouds in robes of shimmering silk
Hear the thunder, feel the rain… cleansing him like a sacred spa

Mac watches the restless rush as the Number One rolls on by
A silent witness as the visitors smile with joy
Hes seen lovers embrace and kiss the long hellos,
and the hard goodbyes
Still and steadfast he remains
Under the wide open Moose Jaw skies

Oh Mac has seen a thousand storms, but nothing brings him down
Just like the earth beneath his feet,
once crushed by three thick Ks of ice
When hardship hits the people gather
beneath him finding their strength
Hes seen them leave foreheads pressed to glass
with eyes full of longing watching him fade
A silver haired wanderer returned at twilight,
to touch his hooves weep in the light

Oh Mr. Mac you say
We may be small but we carry giant dreams
Through the hands of generations
The children who gave pennies
Now have silver in their hair

Watch as the sun, the moon, and stars
pierce through his antlers wide
Heavy snow forges a silver armour… fit for a warriors pride
Northern lights and shifting clouds in robes of shimmering silk
Hear the thunder, feel the rain… cleansing him like a sacred spa

Just a reminder my friends as you head on your way
Im guarding our stories in a capsule of time deep in my heart
And Ill be right here waiting
Waiting for your return
Forevermore
